ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY FUNCTION:
Compliance Specialists are vital members of Jefferson's dynamic and diverse enterprise compliance team.
The Compliance Specialist utilizes their excellent communication, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to drive key operational activities designed to ensure that members of the Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health community understand and adhere to the enterprise Code of Conduct.
The Compliance Specialist conducts research, supports internal investigations, draft reports, manages communications with regulatory authorities, and collaborates closely with internal and external subject matter experts working with the enterprise compliance teams.
The Compliance Specialist serves as the primary driver of existing controls and protocols designed to manage compliance activities and drives adherence to internal standards to ensure timely completion and accurate reporting of risks and opportunities associated with the compliance team's important work.
The Compliance Specialist continuously engages in various activities including completing, tracking, analyzing, and escalating issues to local and enterprise compliance leaders.
Effectively and accurately communicating with internal and external partners is an essential responsibility associated with this important compliance team role.
Essential Functions:
Creating and executing project work plans and revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Identifying resources required to ensure timely completion of projects and engaging leadership to ensure all such resources are available.
Managing day-to-day operational aspects of compliance workplan and related projects.
Preparing deliverables and reviewing timelines and work product with SMEs to produce quality work that aligns with internal compliance policies and enterprise standards.
Utilizing internal controls to manage alerts and ensure timely responses to compliance-related matters.
Identifying and communicating project risks and challenges to appropriate team members to maintain timeline integrity and meet reporting deadlines.
Driving end-to-end project strategy discussions and developing plans for successful completion of compliance work plan and other related activities.
Analyzing, tracking, trending, and responding to communications received from state regulatory authorities, payers, internal members of the Jefferson community, and vendors.
Developing and monitoring reports related to compliance management committee and regional board compliance committee meetings and follow up activities.
Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson's core values.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
Assessing compliance with internal controls and procedures related to staff training, utilization of compliance systems, fiscal year work plan, and budget targets.
Auditing, monitoring, and reporting on utilization of compliance third-party vendors and outside resources.
Serving as a liaison for local and enterprise compliance learning activities, programming, and events.
Providing internal planning support for all compliance-related events and programming.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
POSITIONS, SUPERVISED OR DIRECTED (TITLES AND APPROXIMATE NUMBERS):
Compliance division administrative assistants and limited oversight of work conducted by regional personnel supporting board compliance committee functions.

Health care or legal experience preferred but not required.
Demonstrated foundational knowledge of project management with experience in creating and managing process flows, presentations, and project plans.
Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to independently and accurately issue leadership-level reports and correspondence.
Strong research, analytical and comprehension skills, with ability to analyze large amounts of data.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Macros, Pivot Tables, Etc.
) and advanced experience with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Professional, SharePoint, and presentation software.
Demonstrated understanding of analyzing and reporting metrics.
Development or management of promotional events, including budget development and management, identification and management of speakers, and marketing and promotion experience preferred.
Conditions of EmploymentCovid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University.
